We are excited to announce that the very first walk/run for XLH will be held as part of XLH Day weekend! We hope you will join us on Sunday morning, October 8 at the Farmington Canal Trail in Hamden as we educate the community about XLH and raise funds to support The Network's services. Help spread the word and raise awareness by creating a peer to peer page and encouraging your friends, family members, colleagues and others to support your efforts. And no need to worry if you won't be at XLH Day - you can still participate as part of our virtual team and make a difference!
The event will kick off at 9 am rain or shine (on site registration opens at 8) and will feature kids activities, entertainment, refreshments and more!
Why is The Network hosting a walk/run?
Being at Quinnipiac for XLH Day presents a great opportunity to introduce XLH to the surrounding community. A walk/run is a great way to engage the public in supporting the mission of The Network. It's also a great opportunity to put a face to XLH and provide our patients and family members with an opportunity to participate in a fundraising initiative that will offer family friendly activities.
What if I can't walk or run?
No worries! If you will be at XLH Day we invite you to be part of our meet and greet crew and participate in other on-site activities. It's a chance for the community to get to know those they are supporting, and it's a chance for our members to share their stories! Either way you can still create a personal profile page and participate as a fundraiser!
I am not going to XLH Day. Can I still participate?
Absolutely! All you need to do is create your personal profile page and share it with friends, family members, and colleagues and you will be part of our virtual team, making a difference from the comfort of your own home!
How much do I have to raise to be a part of it?
There are no minimums or maximums! We suggest a fundraising goal of $200 per person. This is an average amount used frequently in other walks/runs, but remember there is no minimum or maximum! The more you raise, the bigger your impact! Incentive prizes will be offered so be sure and set your goal at a level you are confident you can achieve! In fact, here is a 5 step plan for reaching that $200 goal in just 5 days!
Day 1: Make a personal donation of $20
Day 2: Ask five family members to support you at $20 each
Day 3: Ask five colleagues to support you at $10 each
Day 4: Ask two service providers that you frequent (dentist, auto mechanic, hair dresser, dry cleaner) to support you at $25 each
Day 5: You've met your goal...now increase it and keep the momentum going!
You can also share your pages to your social media networks to let those near and far about your efforts!
